Home to a huge array of wild and endangered species, the Zoo and Aquarium are each excellent venues. Heavy investment in both has ensured not only an excellent experience for us humans, but it also means that the animals are well-provided for by way of extensive and imaginative habitats.
London Zoo, which is to be found in Regent’s Park, is home to over 700 different species of animal, including gorillas, lions, tigers and the only population humming birds in Britain. It also has a collection of Socorro doves, which are extinct in the wild.
The Aquarium, which is on the ground floor of County Hall on London’s Southbank is a hugely popular attraction with up to 1 million visitors each year. You can see all sorts in here, from crabs to sharks, to piranhas, to turtles. There’s an excellent tunnel surrounded on both sides and above by the shark tank and you can also get your fingers wet tickling the rays in the special touching tank.
