Pizza, kebab, fast food and ready cooked meals…How long can you continue this incessant mal-nutrition?

You need to change you dietary habits before the pounds start piling on and the vitamin deficiency knocks on your door. I’m sorry to break it to you but you MUST start COOKING. Don’t be scared…..take baby steps. Let us start with something simple and tasty:

Strapatsada for two

StrapatsadaHeat up some oil in a frying pan and add half a grated onion (optional) and half a tin of chopped tomatoes in their juice as well as salt and pepper. Cook at low temperature for 15 minutes. Add four eggs and stir till they go white. Then add some grated feta cheese and some oregano. Yuuuuuummmm…. (goes well on top of bread or in a baked potato!)

Sweet and Sour Chicken

Sweet and sour chickenHeat up some oil in a pot and add 500g of chicken breast (cut up in chunks), salt and paper. Close the top and cook in low heat for about half an hour until the meat cooks. (if you want less calories boil in water). When the meat is cooked add a jar of sweet and sour sauce and cook for a further five minutes.

Boil 2 tea cups of water and add a tea cup of rice as well as some salt and a tea spoon of butter (optional). Close the lid and turn off the heat. Wait for approximately 15 minutes until the rice soaks up all the water. Serve and add the chicken with the sauce on top.

Pasta with Tuna Sauce for 2

Pasta with tuna sauceGreat an onion (and a clove of garlic if you wish) and fry it in some oil in a pot, just before it begins to go brown add 2 grated tomatoes half a tin of tomato sauce some salt, pepper and basil, one tea spoon of sugar and a tea cup of water. Let it cook slowly (at low temperature) till the water evaporates (20 minutes or so). Add a tin of tuna (in water not oil or brine) (you can also add a few kalamata olives cut in half without the stone) and a couple of shots of red wine. Let it cook slowly for another 10 minutes (till the sauce is thick). Try it to see if you’ve added enough salt.

Boil some water in a larger pot. Add half a packet of spaghetti and a pinch of salt and a few drops of oil. Keep stirring them so that they don’t stick together. Boil for 12-15 minutes (try them before sieving) and add some butter at the end (after sieving).

Pasta with Mince Meat
for 2

mince-meat.jpgPut 300g of mince meat in a pot and stir it continuously till it goes brown while adding salt, grated pepper, cinnamon, allspice, one grated onion (a clove of garlic is optional) and some oil. After all the redness from the mince is gone add 2 grated tomatoes half a tin of tomato sauce one table spoon of sugar and a glass of water. Cook slowly (at low temperature) for an hour and a half. Keep stirring and adding water if necessary. Boil until the sauce becomes thick.

Boil some water in a larger pot. Add half a packet of spaghetti and a pinch of salt and a few drops of oil. Keep stirring them so that they don’t stick together. Boil for 12-15 minutes (try them before sieving) and add some butter at the end (after sieving).

** goes well with grated parmesan on top

So…..what do you think? Fairly simple? Don’t forget to accompany your meals with a nice salad

Wash and cut some lettuce and some rocket. Add some green peppers and some chopped up cucumber and tomato if you wish. Add a couple of table spoons of corn and croutons and soft goat’s cheese. Dress with salt, oil and sweet/thick balsamic vinegar.
